Jacque Pepin’s Lobster
Strawberry Dessert

This was a very quiet day at sea. The ships clocks returned to west coast time so we lost an hour of time. We didn’t get up and out of the cabin until nearly 9:00.

In the morning there was a lecture by Dr. Gloeta Massie titled Salmon, Sitka Spruce and Orcas. She explained how these three things are all interconnected and dependent on each other. The salmon rely on the spruce trees to provide shade and keep the water cool for their offspring. The salmon die after they give birth which distracts the bears and birds from eating their offspring as there is plenty of fish to eat. The bears in turn eat the fish and poop in the forest providing fertilizer to the trees. Without the salmon supply there would not be enough food for the Orca whales to eat.

We continue to eat too much food as we dined in the main dining room for three multi-course meals. The food variety is extensive and most of the portions are reasonable allowing you to try many different items. The fresh baked breads at every meal are too good not to eat. Dessert is always on the menu and tempting.

In the afternoon Kent worked on his emails and attended a class on smartphone privacy basics while Mark worked on a community puzzle.

There was a pre-dinner show in the main theater with the Riviera cast called Motor City Moves. It was a fast-paced singing and dancing show with lots of moving props and plenty of songs. The cast did an excellent job with both the dancing and the singing. After the show the entire ship’s crew came on stage to be recognized.

After dinner we attended another show by TJ Tana, the magician and mentalist. His show on this night was called Catch me if You Can. He performed a variety of card tricks, reading people’s minds and a trick we had not seen before using Rubik’s Cubes.
